Age doesn’t define maturity. Experience, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and maturity do. Age really doesn’t mean a thing if you have a closed mindset. You don’t reach a certain age and then life just magically grants you a maturity card. Maturity is something you earn. When you finally decide you don’t know everything, and you’re willing to open your mind to learn. When you finally decide that you have some bad habits and characteristics that you’re ready to get rid of. When you have an understanding of your own emotions and are mindful of others’. When you are aware of your own triggers and can recognize when you’re projecting onto others, when you have a great sense of yourself and have come to accept your life story, when you’ve been through some shit, witnessed some shit. That defines maturity. I know a lot of adults who claim to be mature but can’t even hold themselves accountable for the choices they’ve made that lead them to the lives they live. Age doesn’t define maturity; your mindset does.
