Being a good, self-actualized person requires a lot of energy. It requires you to be conscious and caring not only about yourself, but also for other people. You have to have the ability to show empathy. Many people would rather not be good at something. Because then they can wander through life mindlessly, cluelessly. And the only person they have to think about, care about, and show empathy for is themselves.
